File Name: mangrove1

A Red Mangrove latin name- Rhizophora mangle dangles into Puerto Mosquito Bay. This is the pioneer species on seashores and open estuaries. The characteristic and somewhat scary looking proproots are partly submerged in tidal water or mud. This is just one of the four mangroves that line the bay. They provide nourishment for the eco system.
